Park leave Sussex empty handed.

On a dank, dark, Saturday, with league survival possibly at stake, Charlton Park took on old friends Heathfield & Waldron (The Greenies) in their final match of a troubled season.
In front of a lively crowd, buoyed by a heavy Park presence, the game started well for Park, with some decent possession, with the scrum (welcoming back stalwart Beau Stanford-Francis) to the fore. However, the home team took an early lead after stealing a wayward Park lineout, scoring the first and only try of the half, which was converted.
Park came back strongly and dominated possession and territory, but good defence and Park errors frustrated the visitors who somehow managed to fail to get on the scoreboard despite being awarded a succession of penalties, meaning the Half Time score was 7-0 to the Greenies.
Park now had the benefit of the strengthening wind in the second half and although at times they used it well, were unable to capitalise on territory gained.
Some wayward kicking resulted in 2 of the Home team's second half tries and a solo try and penalty kick left the final score at H&W 29 Charlton Park 0.

It was good to see so many Park supporters on the sideline, cheering the boys on but on this occasion, the 19th man was not able to help the boys get over the line.
With Cranbrook, surprisingly, defeating Crowborough, Park ended the season just above Thanet Wanderers at the bottom of Counties 1 Kent.
At the time of writing, in true RFU style, it is unknown as to what League Park will be playing in next season.

It has been a tough season, for many reasons - indeed one to forget, but hopefully next season will bring a turn around in fortunes for the players and coaches.
